Basil Fawlty is one of the most memorable characters ever created for a sitcom...but as creator John Cleese reveals HERE, the character was based on a real hotelier, although Cleese acknowledges in the interview he had to play him much taller. Friday Fun goes all farcey when Basil flips out after discovering a con artist guest has been posing as a Lord.
Because it makes me smile.
