Hottie Be Thy Name...

...so as the film world mourns Altman's passing and the rest worry about Michael Richards SNAFU or wonder about Tom and Katie's wedding - Dix comes in from the opposite direction and puts out a followup to the Likeability post...

What tv shows do you watch for a particular actor or actresses' likeabilty...or more blatantly, the 'hotness' factor?

For a long time, it was Sarah M. Gellar for me - even though I enjoyed and admired the Buffy series, there was also her kickass yum factor me likey.

And on the male side, I can admit now had an unexplainable thing for David Duchovny on the X File's...

More recently, House's Hugh Laurie most definitely turns my cranky with his handsome irritability factor.

And as for the ladies, Earle's Jaime Pressley is belle-iscious and Huff's Paget Brewster encouraged me to tune in...and watch. And I like to watch (now she's on Criminal Minds, much to Jutratest's chagrin - unattractive?).

Now it hasn't hurt that a lot of these series are also good shows. But is it a coincidence?

Let's not be shy. Who do you like to 'watch'?

There is a really pretty cylon lady on Battlestar Galactica if anybody hasn't noticed.

Jewel Staite in Firefly gave me the yum-yums. Jennifer Garner in Alias. Alison Janney in The West Wing. Hell, she should have been first on the list. Sherry Stringfield in NYPD Blue and then ER.

Hugh Laurie in House for being such a stunning prick.

I've never watched a show for the stars, instead for the writers. Good actors are a bonus. If I like an actor but the show isn't so hot... bye-bye!

That said, I'll watch anything Dennis Franz is in. The man who was Norman Buntz and Andy Sipowicz!

P.S.

Mary McDonnell in Battlestar Galactica. Oh, diggety!

I think I first heard about Life on Mars from my boyfriend, who likes sci-fi and read about it Dreamwatch magazine. I wasn't interested, until he mentioned John Simm was in it. Then I think I made a mental note to watch it. If it was crap of course, I wouldn't have continued to watch it. Also really liked the Beeb's Blackpool - think I tuned in partly because I rather like David Morrissey. Ended up vowing to watch anything David Tennant ever appeared in again.

Dude, most of the BSG cast is just awesome to look at. Same with Heroes, same with Prison Break. Band of Brothers was great for looking at attractive manly men. Alias was a stunning cast as well. I have a hard time picking one or two, but I have to say that I sometimes find Dominic Purcell /very/ compelling.

*drooool*

Tahmoh Penikett is a doppleganger for one of my favorite ex-boyfriends, and Taye Diggs is smoking. Definitely the hottie factor at work, but there's nothing worse than a pretty face that just smiles at ya, witness Josh Duhamel in Las Vegas. I almost like him, but there's something a little too... self-aware about his hottie-ness.

Oh Dix...what a lovely post...

Jessica Alba: I never watched a single episode of Dark Angel, but the thoughts I have about her...yummy...wait, I may get censored here...

I can't argue with the hot-factor of Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jaime Pressley, though again, haven't watched their shows.

Prison Break I do watch; Wentworth Miller is delicious. And Taye Diggs could get this girl to watch anything...

Oh, and I have to add one last hottie for this comment: Alyssa Milano. Super-duper, and the first girl ever to get me *interested*...

Hmmm...

I'm a fan of Jen Garner and all her wacky costumes on Alias. Great bone structure, that gal.

I also have a crush on Jennifer's ex, Scott Foley, from The Unit. Oh, those eyes!

I kinda got the hots for Peter Outerbridge from ReGenesis, too.

Josh Holloway from Lost? Smokin'!

I had a really nice dream about Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum last night. I felt a little guilty having a naughty dream about a guy who looks young enough to be my son, but I just looked him up on IMDb. He's actually 34. Whew!

Oh, yeah, I just remembered, there was someone else in that dream. The smooth and sexy Ed Quinn, from Eureka. Major babe!

Another man that haunts my dreams once in a while is Jensen Ackles. That cutie-patootie has a Supernatural effect on me.

There are a few other TV stars I have the hots for but can't mention. Either because they're a married friend of mine and I don't want to embarrass them by mentioning them publicly, or because I'm dating them and we're trying to keep it on the down-low. I don't want ET calling me again! :-)

funny. for Buffy for me, it was always all about the Willow. And maybe Faith. Mm. Faith.

I know that it has something to do with things. And interestingly enough, I will often think somone is more attractive the longer I watch the show. It's got to be one part of it and an important part too.

What I'm trying to think of is are there any shows that i kept watching just because I found the person hot?

I think maybe I watched two more episodes of STANDOFF than I would have because of Rosemarie DeWitt's nose. And I probably kept watching the O.C. long after I wanted to because of Summer.

There's no way I'd ever watch Cold Case, but sometimes I do because the lead's pretty fetching.

But then again, I have to be fairly ruthless with what I watch to keep up. I don't think I can keep on the hook too long just cause I'm crushing.

Faith 'Buffy' - yum

Denis above me here hit upon something I was trying to get at but didn't quite get there. That is, watching a show because you're 'crushing'. Like me and 'Married With Children' crushing for Christina Applegate

Actually one of the reasons why I saw Buffy was cuz of Spike. And the (fake) accent… *fans with her hand* Hmmmm more eye candies, well not to forget ultra yummy Michael T. Weiss from Pretender, or Nick Stabile or… Gosh, so many men, so lil' time.. ;)

Actually you were the one who inspired me to write the post “Tv or not to V” a while back… (http://girltalkoverlatte.blogspot.com/2006/09/tv-or-not-to-v.html). Yupp, I’m using you as my muse…

I've taught on both sides of the country and girls of all ethnic groups and the only TV hottie we can all agree on is Wentworth Miller.

Personally I'd swoon for Jensen Ackles, formerly of Dark Angel, then Smallville, now Supernatural. I'd totally do him.

I want to see pretty people saying smart things.

And don't read anything into that. I really want to see pretty people saying smart things.

I'm nixed on one but I can aspire to the other.

Will -- the worst thing about watching a show for your crush is when they give him/her a love interest you don't like. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Grey's now that McDreamy is hooking up with Meredith -- fans actively hate Ellen Pompeo. I'm mostly indifferent. To me, she's the new Allie McBeal/Calista Flockhart. Do guys find her hot?

wcdixon said...

She's alright...but not 'hot' like some might say, Katherine Heigl is. I don't actually follow Greys so am not really qualified to comment.

For me, it's the geeks. Marshall on Alias, Greg Grunberg on pretty much every show he's ever been on, and George on Greys.

Even when Alias got wicked stupid, it was still therapeutic watching Jennifer Garner kick ass every week in a different coloured wig. Ditto the Charmed ones and their demon butt kicking.

I will agree with KJC on Scott Foley. I was also inexplicably happy to see Blair Underwood turn up as Ritchie's teacher on New Adventures of Old Christine ... that mojo goes way back to the L.A. Law days.
