On a Personal Note...

...a short post commemorating and congratulating my oldest daughter for graduating high school this morning. It was a real thrill watching her march up on the stage and get her certificate and see the tassle on the cap get switched to the other side. And a little surreal because she graduated from same high school I went to...in the same gym...with some of the same teachers still kicking around!
Flashback-ville to say the least.

Told her younger siblings to soak it up because even though it was a long ceremony, it would be only time they'd ever see their older sister do this particular thingee...and they did.

Pride and joy. One successfully through this phase of the machine...three more to go. I know...who cares but me...but it was very cool.

SONG & ARTIST? It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely
Not for very much longer
I've got to keep control

Cogratulations to your daughter!

I remember graduating high school myself... in this COLD part of the world... :)

Here, it's a big thing. Not as 'elegant' as in the US or Canada, more of parents trying to embarass their kids...

Take care of the younger ones - before you know, they'll graduate too, and be on their way! :)

Thanks for commenting on my blog, btw.

Raced back last night for the banquet, speeches, and got a dance in with the 'girl of the hour' (What A Wonderful World...awwww), before she was swooped up into arms of friends and fellow grads for a night of fun (and some debauchery, I presume...but not too much 'debauch', I hope). Not too worried...she's always had her sh** pretty much together.

thanks for the congrats and comment...sweet of you.

congrats, to your daughter and to yourself.

I think that is missed far too often-

Keep it up.

And for the love of god, don't let her become a writer. ;)

lol...all over it dude - doing everything in my power to steer her clear of this nutty business...though that's the direction she's been musing about taking...of course.

Ah, graduation. I never had one. I mean, I graduated, but my family moved out of town a couple of days after my very last high school class, so it was months before I ever saw the school or my friends again. Admin had to mail me my diploma -- which arrived horribly damaged after getting lost in the system for three months.

I hope your daughter relished the joy and meaning of that special day, Will.

Below is a link to Baz Luhrmnan's graduation '99 song, Everybody's Free (to wear sunscreen).
