It's been a serious "got nuthin' " kinda week...seriously. Though I have found it rather disconcerting to discover that more TV industry colleagues than ever before
aren't planning on attending the
Banff Television Festival this year...are things really that dire out there right now? Oh right...
Blockbuster might be going under. Nevertheless, even big Canadian industry stories like whether CanWest Global
will live to see another day still weren't sparking much inspiration in me.
And then, courtesy
Bill Brioux, there was this...
Some Saturday numbers: playoff fever is building on CBC`s Hockey Night in Canada (1,209,000 and 1,039,000 for Games One and Two). Just 133,000 stumbled on Global`s Genie Awards Saturday night, about half the audience who stayed up till 11:30 to watch Saturday Night Live (267,000).
133,000 viewers for our equivalent to the Oscars. Shit. That's like...nuthin'
Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I think "stumbled" is the appropriate word. Sadly, like others who comment here, I work in this industry, watch a number of Global shows on a regular basis and had NO IDEA the Genie awards were being broadcast on Global. No idea.
I had an idea and was one of those few actually watching, sadly.
