To My Brother, With Whom I Didn't Sleep With...

...the one that's in NY, doing very well for himself. Mon other frère is out in Calgary, doing his thing there.

The comedy album is mostly a lost art, but it should not be forgotten. We listened to comedy albums all the time growing up...Stan Freberg, Beyond the Fringe, Bob Newhart, Woody Allen, and of course, Bill Cosby. Next there were records by Monty Python, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Steve Martin. That was one of the last comedy albums I remember purchasing...Steve Martin's 'Comedy Is Not Pretty'.

And then David Letterman and his show began to satisfy our 'comedy' needs...

Anyway, in the ongoing quest for the next thing that is funny, the brotherly one to the east turned me onto this Borat character a few years ago (aka Ali G).

And now I see there's a Borat movie coming out...

So this is for my bro' - silly I know...but he like...and I like.

It is nice...

SONG & ARTIST? - "Now, if I'd known
They'd line up just to see him,
I'd trade in all my money
And bought me a museum.

Buried with a donkey
He's my favorite honky!
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia..."

P.S. Happy 75th Birthday, Pops...way to go!

Borat aka Ali G aka Sacha Baron.. Trivia knowledge: Both Ali G & Borat has hosted MTW music Awards.

Not exactly my cup of coffee (or latte). Comedy for me is:
- Eddie Izzard - Hart kinda forced me to buy 5 DVD's and we've watched them all
- Monty Python & The Holy Grail (me & Hart have actually acted out few of the scenes)
- Seinfeld
- Jay Leno, now he's wicked!!!

PS. Congrats to your pops from me 2! :)

PS2. Euwwwww, brotha from anotha motha, that headline was totally gross!!

Yep, as always, Crashy is blaming me for EVERYTHING - but this time, I'm owing up to the blame, and reply that had I NOT showered her with funny DVD's and/or forced her to purchase such things, she would be duller then watching paint dry. I call it "cultivation of common man", and it does not stop at comedy - I'm forcing her to watch documentaries, dramas and yes, I have been known to forcegood books on her. But it's for HER best! :)

So, okay, it's blame-Hart day today. Take yourbest shot! ;)

Hey ladies! Thanks for the chatter...

Comedy is a very personal thingee...to each their own...Letterman vs. Leno has started loud arguments in some circles i've frequented...but trying out new stuff is a great quality - it's very easy to put blinders on and get stuck on only one flavour as it were...

And re: "PS2. Euwwwww, brotha from anotha motha, that headline was totally gross!!"

Crashie - the headline is a reference to Bill Cosby's classic recording "To Russell, My Brother, With Whom I Slept With" ...

...unless that's gross, then I don't know what to say.

Regarding my comments abt the headline.. well all I can say Will is:

"Sarcasm: the last refuge of modest and chaste-souled people when the privacy of their soul is coarsely and intrusively invaded." /Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky

By now you should know I got a wicked sense of humor ;)

the song is King Tut by Steve Martin...emailed to me...

Can't wait for the Borat movie. Did you hear about how the Kazakhstan government are furious with him? They feel that he misrepresents their country. Funny.

Contemporary comedy albums worth a listen:

Lewis Black

Mitch Hedberg (like Steven Wright on drugs. Brilliant.)

Dave Attell (I didn't want to like him, but he made me laugh. Definitely not kid-friendly.)

Cal: Lewis Black...as in Daily Show's 'Back In Black'? Yeah he's a hoot.

Fall Guy: thx, but not sure where I found you

Fall Guy....ahhhh...now THOSE were the days.

But try to keep the ugly truths off the comment board.....have a rep(?) to maintain.

Very dark musings on the comment board.... Anyway, late to the party (but always welcome, right?) -- a friend of mine saw this and said it's very funny, very dirty.

always welcome Diva, always welcome...

(and no dark musings, just insiders being sneaky)
