Gabba Gabba ... Awwwww...

Sad times indeed - CBGB's to close -
http://harpmagazine.com/news/detail.cfm?article=10677

Though my exposure to the club was limited to a walk by during my one and only visit to NY, many of the bands it supported and nurtured greatly influenced my youth...

EDIT: call me a moron, but could someone could be so kind as to walk me through the steps to make link to an article appear as just text (eg. CBGB's to close). I've followed Blogger Help to a t but either the link don't link, or I get message that my HTML can't be accepted - has no matching tag, etc. even though it was there when I click publish.

SONG & ARTIST? - "I can't seem to face up to the facts
I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax
I can't sleep 'cause my bed's on fire
Don't touch me, I'm a real live wire."

Bummer... I guess to be able to make room for the future we have to delete history. Doesn't make sence, cuz as the saying goes, you won't be able to know where you're headed unless you know where you've been.

I'd say get back to your roots :)

Damn, Gizmorox beat me to Psycho Killer.

My favourite thing about CBGB's was the men's washroom. It consisted of a single toilet, on a riser, with no privacy walls. Classy.

I saw a terrific band there called The Smittys. I wish they made a CD....instead of the crummy cassette tape that is now somewhere in my closet.

I'll miss that filthy dive.

Callaghan has been MIA...but he's back - with vengeance.

Couple ways to do the link thingy.

1) Create your post with blogger, highlight your url, copy it, start your post and highlight the words you want to link, then click on the little link icon (looks like glasses), then paste the url into the box that pops up.

2) You can use something like Word or e-mail - wherever you do know how to make a link work, write your post, then copy/paste it into blogger. If it's e-mail, you can setup e-mail posting and just e-mail it :)
