On Another Personal Note...

...my middle daughter took part in her Grade 8 graduation ceremony last night - having successfully completed elementary school and preparing for that next life stage: high school. Two grads in one month. Wow. It's all zipping by. And she was awarded the most improved student medal to boot (I presume it was for her grades as she has never really... 'copped any 'tude, man').

I know...yawn... (I hear chants of 'more Banff dirt' 'more Banff dirt!') but hey, congratulations honey --- pride and joy, pride and joy.

SONG & ARTIST? - Well I've been afraid of changin'
Because I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder, even children get older
And I'm getting older too
I get older, too

p.s. saw 'Cars' this evening, not that it wasn't an enjoyable, entertaining, visual treat...but it was 'Doc Hollywood', no? A close lift I'd say, as I'm sure Doc Hollywood was 'inspired' by something as well. Has every review already pointed this out? If so, sorry.

Time flies. It's depressing, really. Or, maybe I'm getting all jeetered up for my upcoming birhtday (although it's more then one month away)...

Besides, Mississippi got me out of verve... :)

Time does fly, but birthdays are just that, days. Celebrate them...congratulate yourself for making it this far...and carry on.

Nice- them kids be growin'- y'know!

Good stuff- it's reflective of their upbringing...so one should be proud.
Congrats.

Hey Will, I haven't seen "Cars," but I do have a soft spot in my heart for "Doc Hollywood." It has aged fairly well and it always makes me smile.
And yes, the years do zip by, but if you stop and look around once in a while, you wont miss it (thanks Ferris Bueller).

'Doc Hollywood' was one of the first of many scripts I ordered from some shop in LA (prior to internet and script downloads) because I thought it worked and it's soft romcom structure was really solid. So I don't really hold anything against 'Cars' - imitation is always a form of flattery.

I can't be the only one who recognizes that as Fleetwood Mac's Landslide, can I?

And Doc Hollywood? Holy blast from the past. I used to sing that cheesy theme song at the top of my lungs the entire summer that came out. When I was a wee teenager and just starting to realize how cool movies were.

giz: ...finally, somone gets 'Landslide' (also covered by Smashing Pumpkins or Dixie Chicks)

here i was thinking I'd be the first to point out Fleetwood Mac :)

The older I get the more I feel like everything is built around youth in our country. Not so much in the East.

In the Western world though, it's all about being young.

Congrats on the graduations.

Hey, congrats! I guess you never realize how fast time goes by until you see /your) kid grow up and realize you have gotten older too! Yikes - talk abt reality check!

Wicked, I bet your very proud of your daughter - and you ought to be too! Although, she won the award for "the most improved student", which doesn't say much - if she skipped all classes and just started showing up, that's a huge improvement innit ;)

Btw, love the song.. kinda bitter sweet... *sigh*

I recognized Landslide, but immediately started head singing it as Smashing Pumpkins.

Kids sure do graduate a lot these days, they also have 6th grade graduation in these parts.
