Damn...

I hate it when someone else writes the post I was about to write...so I guess I won't be penning a 'Follow The Money in the Canadian Broadcasting Industry' essay since Henshaw just up and WROTE THE SHIT out of that topic yesterday.

And people wonder why a lot of us old guys are a little jaded and some might even say, bitter...

Dix,

Anybody who knows either one of us knows we're far from jaded and anything but bitter. I doubt there are two more easy going guys in the industry.

But in writing these recent "Business" posts, I'm realizing how much our silence in the name of peacekeeping and ourwillingness to "go along to get along" has allowed things here to become so much worse.

Post what you were planning to write -- and maybe kick in some of the stuff we both know you've held back. It's the only way some of this broken system can be called to account.

I want to read your post, too. I've come to the same conclusions you and Jim have, and I'm so gratified to read that I'm not alone. I've been barking away about it for so long that people around me think I'm suffering from a personality disorder: follow the money, follow the money...

Give.

For those who come after us, they need to know what they're up against.

I wouldn't want to wish the lessons I've learned the hard way on anyone.

I am the only bitter writer in the village! lol

Luckily I haven't had many problems with residuals in the UK. We have a PACT agreement which holds up pretty well as a rule. And ALCS to cover foreign and cable rights.

We do have a lot of foreign imports, mostly American but they rarely play in prime time on the main networks. Heroes went to BBC2

CSI is on 5. Lost is on Sky. Entourage is on ITV2.

prime time seems to be largely reserved for UK content. Even if that is unfortunate in some cases.
